Online Team Bingo
As COVID-19 disrupts businesses around the world, many teams have been forced to go remote to keep working. Remote working has challenges: it’s difficult to connect with employees and coworkers over the internet. While Friday Zoom happy hour is a standard way to stay connected, there are plenty of creative ways to bond with your remote team. We’ve compiled our favorites below.
Go Camping
BuzzBuzzBingo is home to the popular Buzzword Bingo Party Game! Turn your next TV watching gathering into the ultimate couch party or spice up your classroom with a fun game for all! Print and download free Team Building Bingo Cards or Make Custom Team Building Bingo Cards. Create, Download, Print, Play, BINGO! Mar 20, 2020 Zoom and online work calls are everywhere. People have flocked to apps like Microsoft Teams and Zoom in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, becoming one of the main ways that people communicate. Zoom chief executive Eric Yuan said Zoom jumped into success overnight because of the need for such an app, according to The New York Times.
Virtual camping seems counterintuitive, but wait until you see what tiny campfire has in store. The company runs virtual campfires for teams, but without the mosquito bites and potential bear issues. The 90-minute experience is completely digital, and includes ghost stories, icebreakers, competitions, and even a s’mores making session so you can hone your chocolate/marshmallow technique. The best part? Before the event, tiny campfire sends each person on your team a camping care package, including ingredients for s’mores, a small candle, and matches. It’s a great way to build camaraderie – no woods required!
Tip: This experience is used by some of the world’s most cutting edge organizations, including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Pepsi, and Netflix.
Team Building Bingo
Bingo, but make it team building! Virtual bingo is a great way to engage remote workers. Simply start with a virtual bingo board with a few action items or accomplishments on it (think silly things like ‘worked from a coffee shop’, ‘wore pajama bottoms to a video meeting’ or ‘saw a pet in the background of a video meeting’) and let your coworkers run with it! First one to reach ‘bingo’ gets a prize.
Tip: Stretch this game out a little by having two meetings, one to fill out the virtual bingo board, and one for the first person to reach ‘bingo’. Take a look at an example ‘bingo’ board from Bingo Baker.
Bingo For Teams
Messy Desk Tuesdays
A just-for-fun way to get to know your team better, ‘Messy Desk Tuesdays’ involves sending in your photos of your desk. In an office environment, we’re bound to be a bit neater. Left to our own devices, it’s another story. Between the cereal bowls, three-day-old cups of coffee, and notes from last year’s board meeting, your desk is a veritable treasure trove. Laugh along with your employees and despair at the miserable state of your working environments.
Tip: Not everyone is messy! This is a chance for your tidy coworkers to show off their organized workspaces. Check out The Atlassian for more tips.
Virtual Poker
Whether you’ve got a team of poker novices or experienced card sharks, poker is a great way to get your team to relax and have fun. Playing poker virtually does require a bit of finesse – an app is the easiest (and most fun) way to get started. Try Global Poker’s Tournament Clock app that enables you to customize and manage your virtual games. You won’t have to worry about upping the ante or about changing blinds, and each game is completely customizable. The best part? It’s completely free to download.
Tip: Planning the perfect poker night is an art form, so take a look at Global Poker’s tips for the perfect poker night to get you started.
Team Trivia
Virtual trivia is a great way to get to know your team better, and it’s incredibly easy to do in this time of social distancing. Prepare a few rounds, such as ‘general knowledge’ or a movie round where everyone guesses the movie based on a photo, but do a few team-specific rounds that cite some inside jokes or company knowledge. Really struggling for ideas? Ask your team for their suggestions. The most fun trivia nights are high-scorers, so bear this in mind and keep things light. Stylist has some great ideas for rounds.
Tip: Break the ice by suggesting that everyone come in costume, like 90s or coordinating outfits if partners or roommates will be participating, too. It’s a great way to add a new twist to a tried-and-true activity.
Whether you fill up on chocolate and marshmallows by the warm glow of the virtual campfire or spend hours organizing your desk toys for the perfect photograph, go have some fun with your team!
